L’estate è arrivata e allora ho pensato: perché non imparare un po’ di vocabolario italiano relativo all’estate?

Summer is here so I thought, why don’t we learn some Italian summer vocabulary?

Gli italiani amano l’estate! È un periodo in cui molte persone vanno in vacanza e si godono il clima caldo, le attività all’aperto e gli eventi culturali.

Italians love summer! It is a time when many people take their holidays and enjoy the warm weather, outdoor activities, and cultural events.

Oltre a essere un periodo di svago e relax, l’estate è anche un periodo di feste in Italia. Molti paesi e città organizzano feste tradizionali durante i mesi estivi, che celebrano qualsiasi cosa, dal cibo al vino, dalla musica all’arte.

In addition to being a time of leisure and relaxation, summer is also a time for festivals and celebrations in Italy. Many towns and cities hold traditional festivals during the summer months, celebrating everything from food and wine to music and art.

Come potete vedere, l’estate è una super stagione in Italia, quindi impariamo alcuni vocaboli estivi italiani relativi alla spiaggia!

In Spiaggia – At the beach

Andare al mare

E’ un’attività estiva molto diffusa in Italia.

It means to go to the beach, and it’s a popular summer activity in Italy.

Prendere il sole

E’ un’altra attività popolare durante i mesi estivi.

It means to sunbathe, another popular activity during the summer months.

Abbronzarsi

E’ un obiettivo comune di molte persone durante i mesi estivi.

It means to get a tan, which is a common goal for many people during the summer months.

Fare il bagno in mare

E’ praticamente il motivo principale per cui si va in spiaggia.

It means to swim in the sea, which is basically the main reason why you go to the beach.

Andare a fare un giro in barca

E’ il modo perfetto per godersi il mare, il paesaggio e per raggiungere piccole spiagge non raggiungibili a piedi o in auto.

It means to go for a boat ride, which is the perfect way to enjoy the sea, the landscape and to get to small beaches that cannot be reached by foot or car.

Mettere la crema solare

E’ molto importante per prevenire le scottature e proteggere la pelle.

It means to put sunscreen on, very important to prevent sunburn and protect your skin.

Leggere un libro sotto l’ombrellone

E’ il modo perfetto di rilassarsi.

It means to read a book under the beach umbrella, the perfect way to relax.

Guardare il tramonto

E’ un’attività molto romantica da fare in spiaggia.

It means to watch the sunset, a very romantic activity to do while you’re at the beach.

Prendersi una scottatura

E’ una cosa che spero non ti accada.

It means to get a sunburn and it’s something I hope it won’t happen to you.

Fare un castello di sabbia

E’ quello che di solito i bambini amano fare in spiaggia.

It means to make a sun castle and it’s what children usually enjoy doing on the beach.

Affittare un lettino

E’ quello che si deve fare se si va in una spiaggia privata.

It means to rent a tanning bad, which is something you have to do if you go to a private beach.

Andare su una spiaggia libera

Le spiagge libere non sono generalmente attrezzate, il che significa che dovrete portare con voi ombrellone, lettino e/o telo da mare.

It means to go to a public beach. Public beaches aren’t generally equipped, which means you have to bring your own beach umbrella, sunbed and/or beach towel.

Essere punti da una medusa

E’ un’altra delle cose che spero non vi accada.

It means to be stung by a jellyfish and, again, it’s another one of those things I hope it won’t happen to you.

Preparare la borsa frigo/termica

La borsa frigo è molto utile se volete mangiare cibo fatto in casa sulla spiaggia con tutta la famiglia.

It means to prepare the cooler. The cooler is very useful if you want to eat homemade food on the beach with all your family.

Mettere il costume

E’ una delle cose fondamentali da fare prima di andare in spiaggia, a meno che non si tratti di una spiaggia per nudisti, nel qual caso potete evitare di indossarlo.

It means to wear swimsuit, one of the very basic things you should do before going to a beach, unless it’s a beach for nudists, in that case you can avoid wearing it.

Passeggiare sul lungomare

E’ un’attività molto rilassante da fare mentre si è in spiaggia.

It means to stroll along the waterfront and it’s a very relaxing activity to do while you’re on the beach.
