Crafty indoor activities

Today’s I’d like to list some indoor activities that you can do with your children in case you’re forced to spend some time at home.

I’ll write this article both in Italian and English, so you can test your Italian reading comprehension skills.

Iniziamo.

Let’s start.

When I was a child and I had to spend some time at home because of the weather or because I was recovering from an illness, there were some indoor activities that I loved to do.

Origami

Origami are pretty famous but for those of you who still don’t have a clue about what they are, well, origami is the art of paper folding to create objects.

Creating origami can be a good activity to do when we’re stuck at home because it helps develop and improve hand eye coordination, it improves concentration, doesn’t make mess and gives us a strong sense of satisfaction when we see the final result.

There are plenty of websites and books that show some examples of easy origami, give it a try!

Salt dough objects are easy to make and we can really unleash our creativity and create everything we want.

All we need is: flour, salt, water, baking sheet, acrylic paint, transparent acrylic spray.

To make salt dough we use 1 part of flour and half part of salt and water. So, if we want to use 300g of flour, we need 150ml of water and 150g of salt.

Amalgamiamo tutto.

We mix everything together. Then either we shape it into the object we want or we roll it out and cut some shapes out of it.

Once we’ve done, we put our objects on a baking sheet and we bake them at 100 degree until they’re hard and dry – the time depends on the size of the objects we’ve made.

Poi, possiamo iniziare a dipingerli. Come tocco finale, li ricopriamo con dello spray acrilico trasparente per proteggerli dall’umidità

When they are ready, we take them off and let them cool. Then, we can start to paint them. As a final touch, we seal them with some clear acrylic spray to protect them from moisture.

Do you know some other easy and fun crafty indoor activities? Be sure to mention them in the comment section below.
