Three funny games to play at home with your children

Last Modified: April 4, 2020

Funny games to play at home with your children

When you’re at home with your children and there’s a storm outside or when you’re forced to stay at home for coronavirus, you have to find some activities to do to fill the day.

So, I’d like to suggest three funny games to play at home with your children.

1. Bowling

The first of these three funny games is bowling. Bowling is the perfect game to play at home with your children. You don’t even need special equipment to play this game, just some empty plastic water bottles, a small ball and some duct tape.

Line your empty bottles in the hall – or in a room of your choice. Decide the distance from which you want to throw the ball and use some duct tape to indicate the starting line.

When you’re done, you can start bowling.

Of course, you can keep score and, to make things even more interesting, you can give small gifts or handmade trophies at the end.

Idea: Do you want to make things a little bit more difficult? You can add some water or some sand in the bottles.

2. Make up stories

This is a great game to improve your children’s imagination and creativity.

There are many ways to organize this game. One of them is to cut some images from magazines, another one to write some words on some pieces of paper like: castle – castello – girl – ragazza – spider – ragno – sea – mare.

If you decide for the images, spread them on the floor, make your children close their eyes and pick from two to five – or even more – images. Once they did, they can open their eyes and make up a story involving all the images they chose.

The procedure is the same with the pieces of paper. Make your children choose two or more pieces, give them some time to think and then they have to make up a story using all the words that they chose.

They will have a lot of fun.

Idea: Do you want to make things a little bit more difficult? Start your story with your image/word, then your child has to connect his image/word to your story, and so on.

3. The secret box

The last of the funny games to play at home in today’s list is the secret box. All you need for this game is an empty box – measures can change – and some objects to put in the box, if you want you can take also some blind fold masks.

This game is extremely fun and is also useful to improve your children’s sensory skills.

Take the box and cut a hole on the top of it. The hole must be large enough for your children to put their hand in.

If you don’t have a box with a lid, ask your children to close their eyes when the game starts or make them use a blind fold mask.

When you’re ready put an object in the box and ask your children to touch it in turns. They have to guess what it is.

If you want to, you can allow them to ask questions about the object, or you can give them some clues.
